Plank (wood)
A plank is a piece of timber, flat, elongated and rectangular, with parallel faces, higher or longer than wide, used in the construction of ships, houses, bridges, etc... Usually from sawn timber, more than 38 mm thick, and generally wider than 63 mm. If the width is less than 63 mm and the thickness less than 38 mm is called board. It also receives the name of board a panel of wood or other material (composed of one piece of board or more) which is normally hung on a wall with announcements to be read by a certain audience (for example a bulletin). From these words derives the term for the digital bulletin board Bulletin board System
